Peggie and I were blessed to be able to join the Tabernacle staff in January of 2007. We have a passion
to serve the Lord by ministering to hurting families. We minister together for pastoral counseling to pre-marriage and married couples as well as for support groups and find this provides a special dynamic for relating to both sexes. Peggie also ministers to women one-on-one.
Peggie: As I look back over my life, I see that many of my educational opportunities, life experiences, and training opportunities have helped equip me for family ministry. I began my professional career by earning a RN (Registered Nurse) diploma followed by a B.S. degree in Social Sciences, specializing in early childhood development. I worked for 6 years as a public health nurse in family planning, well-baby clinics, and home health. While raising 5 children, I taught pre-school, Lamaze, LaLeche League (breast feeding) classes as well as helped in church as a Nursery and Sunday School teacher. For the last decade, I have been studying and preparing for pastoral counseling and working in support groups. I was Director of Life Focus (support group ministry) for 3 years and was responsible for teaching and training facilitators for leading groups. I recently earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Pastoral Counseling.
Brent: I retired as a Professor of Ornamental Horticulture (July 2007) after 32 years with the University of Florida to pursue His calling to family ministries. In my college days I looked to science to answer my questions about life, but when I was born again, I started finding the real Truth about life in God’s Word. I often muse that I have spent more time in His Word than all my 9 years of college courses put together, often unlearning false teachings. Perhaps this is why I love to teach His Word in Bible studies at church and in home groups, with a special love for the books of John and Acts. I have been active in the church as a children’s teacher, young adult leader, deacon, and elder. The Lord has gifted me in understanding financial stewardship and helping families with home budgeting. I have been involved in support groups as a facilitator for men’s groups and have been to many intimate life and counseling conferences and workshops.
Peggie and Brent: We have been married 37 years and have 5 children ranging in age from 17-31. Four of our children were adopted giving us much insight and experience to help others with adopted children. We are also blessed with 5 grandchildren, ages 3-10. |
